Description
Following the Atomic Energy Commission's July 1990 letter to the Maharashtra Chief Minister requesting for land for NCBS, the government got very interested and offered various options, including plots as large as 100 acres. The search committee at NCBS surveyed the plots, but eventually felt they needed a location that was well connected, with a conducive working climate and offered interactions with other institutions in molecular biology (IISc). All this basically ruled out anything but Bangalore.
