Within a year of his PhD, when Obaid Siddiqi was at Yale in 1962, he received a book contract offer from McMillan, "Introduction to Molecular Genetics". These nine extracts give a glimpse of the events over the next three years. This was also a time when he was heavily involved in setting up the new molecular biology unit at TIFR.
