1989 Aug - CNR Rao to V Singh - TIFR IISc space approval for NCBS.tif

Description

The new crew moving to Bangalore needed to set up temporary labs to start working while they went through bureaucratic hurdles to procure land and build a new campus. In 1989, TIFR’s radio astronomy group led by Govind Swarup moved out of their space in the TIFR Centre in IISc to Pune to build the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope. The biologists jumped at the opportunity.
