2000s process - filling up tip boxes.jpg

Description

Ishier Raote, an NCBS student in the early 2000s, filling up tips prior to an experiment. Tips are plastic disposable tips for micropippettes, a critical daily use instrument for any experiment that needs tiny volumes pippetted. In the early days, microtips were not available in pre packaged racks. So one had to individually fill up tips in all 96 spaces of a tip box, then get it sterilized by autoclaving. Tip filling was either a communal activity or individual depending upon the spirit of a lab or just need based.
