Title A name given to the resource deepti_labtour-fly-maze-glass_SPACE-TOUR.mp3 Description An account of the resource T-traps were used for odour preference assays for Drosophila. One of the arms of the T-trap has an odorant while the other one is a control. Flies are let in from the third arm and allowed to roam around. The flies that are attracted by the specific odor (either because of innate preference or because of pre-conditioning) will go towards that arm. The trap is made in a way that once the fly enters one arm it is difficult to come out. At the end of the assay, the total number of flies in each arm is counted. The principle is same as Y-maze, but this assay proved to be less cumbersome and time consuming. Deepti Trivedi narrates some memories from her time in the lab.
